I was fortunate attend the block party at the opening and it was really great to see, there was a fantastic vibe and so much talent.

It’s amazing how the city has embraced street art; where it was once illegal and considered a sign of neglect, it’s now being commissioned by the city council to beautify huge public spaces.

It’s now registered and appears on arctic maps. This september he’s returning with an expert team to collect a portion of the island and sale with it into international waters 200 nautical miles from he nearest country boundary and will then be able to declare it a new nation.

You can sign up as a citizen online now. Nowhereisland will become a political statement as all citizens will be able to vote about the bill of rights/constitution of this new micro-nation. It poses many questions – how can we create a better society? If we started over would we do things the same way?

(…)

He explained that I should start working on a project as soon as it was assigned. An hour or so would do fine, he told me. He told me to come back to the project every day for at least a little bit and make progress on it slowly over time. (…)

He explained that once your brain starts working on a problem, it doesn’t stop. If you get your mind wrapped around a problem with a fair bit of time left to solve it, the brain will solve the problem subconsciously over time and one day you’ll sit down to do some more work on it and the answer will be right in front of you.

(…)

The above quote is from Fred Wilson‘s father’s day post about a lesson his dad taught him.
